PetalStool (2017-2020). These works represent a project in progress that continued to build slowly. Every time I received a bouquet from a loved one, I hung dried them, then added the petals to the bowl. Each petal is piled on top of the last, becoming new photographic content. ‘PetalStool’ is a play on the word pedestal: to idealize something of great importance or admiration, or the support on which things are heightened. All the bouquets used in this project were placed in high regard for me because each was a gift from a loved one, and because of my personal admiration for botanicals.
